Winch rope repair
Since the winch rope is braided, I did what I do to my water ski ropes. You just feed it back in the center of the rope, just like they made it. Now I have about a 30 ft extension and about 60 ft on the winch. Probably sufficient for most of our needs. Can't do that with the steel cables.
