The rear Dana 35c is weak primarily because its axle shaft diameters are not large enough to handle the doubled torque load a locker can cause them to have to endure. As the axle left the factory, neither side's axle shaft can ever have to accept more than 50% of the torque that the engine can deliver. When you install a locker, that can go to 100% of the engine's torque being sent to just one side if/when the other side's tire is up in the air or without traction which are the situations lockers are meant for.
