I guess it depends on the person. A guy at my office just got a big, expensive looking boquet (exotic looking flowers) delivered to him and he was proud.
I've had flowers sent a few times by an old girlfriend, and frankly, I felt a bit odd when the delivery boy brought them by. I'm with Stu, I'd rather my wife spend the money on something else (or not at all) than on flowers for me.
As for it being gay ... not.
