Ultimatly, it is the thought that counts, and if the girl knows the guy well enough, she should know already if he will appreciate flowers. Personally, I am a bit practicle, so I see flowers a waste of time and money. When I do break down and get them for my wife, they are extra special, and she has grown to know that (Been together for 8 years, given flowers 5 times). She knows me well enough to know that a good steak will be received much better than some flowers.
I have a co worker whose husband wheels with me. He just turned 40. She asked a bunch of the other guys in our office (and not me!!) what she should get him. She decided upon a leather recliner. It shows up, he says great, but for that, I could have gotten fuel injection on my CJ. She is ****ed, but chair goes back and he gets fuel injection. She should have known him well enough and not listened to a bunch of uptight engineers (or asked me!).
It all depends on the couple.......
