Actually, the term "grok" comes from "Stranger in a strange land" by Robert Hienlen. It's a pretty good book about people who suffer from being different from the crowd. And it's a classic story.

I thought you'd get a kick out of the proverb, as it seems to define things well. But, perhaps as with most proverbs, people take them different ways.
