The cap has a function. It holds pressure on a spring that keeps the ball in the socket.
If the center is coned upwards where the grease fitting is, then too much pressure was used to fill it with grease when it didn't want any.
That coning will also reduce pressure on the spring and induce play in the joint that could lead to D/W.
I can get the part warrantied if the cap isn't coned. If it's coned, it's much harder because that can be attributed to
unintentional user error.
