My father-in-law is still driving my wife's old 1988 Chevy dually, 1 ton, crew cab, that we sold to him 9 years ago. It has the 454 in it and has like over 170,000 miles on it now. It doesn't get the best mileage, but it's been all over the country pulling their trailer, and seems to run forever. Never had the manifods crack yet. Other than a bad smog pump, rebuilt radiator, a couple of throttle body gaskets, a alternator or two, and 2 injectors, it's been a pretty good truck. I do most of the work on it, since It was sold with some sort of lifetime labor warranty that everyone forgot to tell me about As a matter of fact I just got in from changing the oil in it, so the in-laws could go to Truckhaven with us in a couple of days!
