Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day

In 30 minutes or so time in the Eastern Time Zone will pass from being the Marine Corps Birthday to that of being Veteran's Day.

It takes a Marine to understand and fully appreciate why we celebrate the founding of the Corps at Tuns Tavern in Philly on November 10th, 1775, prior to the founding of our country.

But this post isn't about the Marine Corps or any of the other fine branches of our Armed Forces. This post is about all of them. It is about Veteran's Day and all the members of our Armed Forces, past and present.

Veteran's Day is a special day to me in a very humbling way.

On this day I am reminded of the clarity of simple truth, and a simple phrase representing that truth.

"Freedom tastes different to those who have fought and almost died for it, then it does to others."
(Carved into the stone floor of a "suite" at the "Hanoi Hilton" by an anonymous American POW.)

To every one of you who have honorably served; Well Done.

In war time and in peace time you have been Freedom Defenders, "Successfully".

God Bless,

Frank
