I find that they do help keep the steering wheel a bit more under control when I am on the trail. They are a 50/50 compress extend shock....so they oppose a change in direction equally. Those smaller boulders that want to tear the wheel out of your hands would do so more easily if it were not for the stabilizer.

Is that an OK reason?
