Jim, it is extremely important that you never let a rod end work on the threads. The jam nut must be tight on there to hold the threads jammed against each other.

Failure to do so will rapidly wear the threaded sections out and cause premature failure.

You can check with RE but I will be happily surprised if they warranty it.

It is impossible to ascertain the value of something until you have paid for it a few times.
