Great post, per usual Frank...

One thing I might add from my own limited experience in cooling devices is an external/remote oil filter relocation kit.

I run one on my CJ that is a dual filter setup, and a single filter setup on my TJ/DD. Both use the same big Ford V-8 filter (I only have to have ONE type of filter on hand for "emergencies"). Both use common hose so it's easy to replace. I've set up both so that the filters are upright and can be changed with a minimum of mess. Most importantly it gets the oil away from the block and increases the available volume so it has the opportunity to cool down. Unfortunately, I don't have specifics on par with yours...

With the larger filters, I have increased the capacity on my CJ by about a quart, and the TJ by about a half quart. The design also makes it very easy to plumb in additional cooler units.

Here's the article that got me started down this road:

(note: the filters pictured in the article are only about 1/2 the size of the full-size Ford filters I use on the kit).
