Are you swapping from 5.5" to 4.5" springs? If so and assuming that the axle is currently lined up correctly, I'd just do the swap and forget it, adjusting the pinion angle if needed to get rid of any new vibes. Changing the springs 1" would have about the same effect on ride height as having two adults sit in the back seat. I wouldn't worry about it or put that much effort into it.

For getting the pinion angle lined up I used to use the angle finder and be all anal about it. After putting in my Full Traction long arm lift, Blaine just eyeballed it and it works just fine. For the side to side measurment I think we just measured off of a plumb bob. and were good to go.
