I passed the test.

Here is how:

First I purchased a code scanner. I bought an Autoxray 1500, but any scanner that can display emissions readiness would do.

On my jeep there are seven monitors:

Misfire
Fuel System
Comp. Components
Catalyst
Evap. System
O2 Sensor
O2 Sensor Heater

The first three monitors are continuous, and they will always be in ready state, unless something is wrong. Other monitors are triggered only when certain enabling criteria are met.

The most troublesome out of those monitors to trigger are the Catalyst and the Evap. System. I did not obtain the actual drive cycle procedures, but I was told on the OBD forum that,

?for EVAP: the fuel level needs to be between 15-85%, the ambient temp sensor and engine coolant sensors must be between 40-90 degrees on start-up (as well as within 10 degrees of each other).

For Catalyst: Drive the vehicle in 4th gear if a manual. This appears to be tested according to the drivecycle [sic] at a steady speed on the highway.
