Thumbs up awesome Thanksgiving week

Hello all,

just got back into Alpine and now I can turn into a webwheeler again

It's been a great week: great folks to be around with, great trails, great weather, great food and plenty of fun.

Thanks to all for making this another great Thanksgiving week at the Hammers and also for the patience and help while on Outer Limits when my rig broke ... on to the SuperDuper30 ARB set up now

It was a front Warn short side inner that broke at the splines & the remainder was stuck in the locker/carrier. It was not a simple axle shaft swap. The front axles (both sides plus big hubs) were removed so the broken/stuck pieces could be disloged from the opposite side past the carrier pin.

He has been wheeling it VERY hard & often while polished for ~5 years.

We pitched in & he had it fixed before too long & he drove the rest of the trail fine.

We didn't do much wheeling with the group although Lawrence and I had a nice ride up Rattlesnake Canyon on Friday. Had some nice campfire talk Saturday night after the group finally rolled in and in general....got to see some familiar faces and do a little catching up.

Traded some text messages with Larry late yesterday....they made it Lone Pine Saturday night and were in Reno last night. Larry needed to work on his rear driveshaft CV and patch up Wendy's steering again before they could hit the casinos though........tough life

Huge thanks to Blaine and Kat for putting this together! I had a phenomenally good time!

It is always such a pleasure to meet and wheel with people from around the country, and even nicer to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with them. Good people and good times!

Unfortunately, my drive home was more eventful than I had planned.

Lesson 1 - if you lose your trailer spare tire on your way to JV, you will certainly NEED your spare on your way home

Lesson 2 - Discount Tire in Yucca blows, Big O Tire in Yucca kicks butt!

I'm bummed I didn't get to make it earlier on to spend more time with the group, but big thanks to Blaine and Katherine for putting up with me, and another big thanks to all those who really helped this trip be possible for me in the form that I enjoyed it. Whether it was a vote, a steering box or other parts, or just words of encouragement along the way. The nights around the fire and the wheelin' on Saturday was a great break from the rat race I've been in lately, and I really look forward to getting together with you all again soon.

As usual, I'm astounded at the quality and quantity of friends who show up to spend time in the desert occupying their time with some of our favorite activities. Wheeling, camping, and burning wood.

I had an exceptionally good time with old friends and new and truly hope we can all do it again.

Hopefully before long I will have a tent heater rigged up for the shower to complement the hot water. I for one didn't enjoy turning it off in the slightest when the wind started sneaking in through the drains.

Thanks to everyone who helped and made this happen and chipped in on the firewood. We didn't run out and had just about the right amount.

I need more water tanks.

I am at a loss for words to describe the one of the most awsome adventures I have ever had, and a thank you to those that were so generous and welcoming just doesn't seem enough...but thank you to all. I have made some life long friends, and I look forward to seeing you all again.

Had to make some repairs in Reno as Robert mentioned above. It was pretty cool to have a Blackberry phone under these circumstances. I was able to PM a JU'er from the phone, and he was all over helping us. He brought us to his home and allowed us to use his garage and tools to get us back on the road.

We left Reno at 6am monday, fought snow all the way home and finally arrived a mere 19 hours later

Looking forward to it David. I plan on having more water for the shower, a more convenient way to fill the tank, and a much warmer interior for the shower tent.

We were really blessed by the weather this year and if the weather were any colder, we'd be popsicles by the time we got dried off in the shower tent.

I did order a pressure switch for the spare pump so it will be pressed into service as a transfer pump to fill the tank. I have a tank level gauge on the way as well.

Enjoyed it immensely.

Sounds like you guys had a great week.

sorry I missed it, just couldnt get the time off..

hopefully I can hook up with you guys this winter wheelin season.

Maybe Blaine can try and get my bloated station wagon through a trail or two without looking like an opened tuna can afterwards..

Have a GREAT Christmas everyone...

Id like to re-iterate what everyone else has said.

What a wonderful weekend we had wheeling with all you guys! Thanks again to Blaine and Katherine for your hospitality, hot water, fire and spotting It was great to see some familiar faces again, I have the absolute worst memory when it comes to names, but I remember the faces Also great to meet some new ones. I'm glad to hear everyone made it home safely. It certainly makes me appreciate how close we live comparatively.

Chris and I had a great time and are looking forward to getting together here in the near future to enjoy the JV season.

Tam

While I was only able to get out for Friday I was so glad I did. It was great to see my old friends again - and it has been too long - and great to meet some new ones.

OL was a strange trail that day - the sections that used to be murder were somewhat easier then normal and the somewhat easy parts were very difficult.

A big thank you to Erik for letting me ride shotgun and to of course Blaine and Kathryn for their hospitality and company. Great to see everyone around the fire and nice to meet Larry and Wendy and David and Lynne. Chef - sorry I missed your virgin run with the new rig. Chris and Tammy thanks again for the great time. Rick and Sarah - nice to see you again and to wheel with you. Joe - great to see you again as well. Steven it was great having you along - although you didn't have any Mexican candy this time and I was somwhat disappointed. Sergey nice to see you - sure missed you on the trail! Robert, Tricia, and Kendra - nice to see all of you as well. Ron - great wheeling with you and thanks for the apple flops! Brian as usual it was great to see you. Matt - also missed you on the trail - it was nice to meet your family and your two boys - they sure are cute.

I'm sure I forgot someone - sorry!!!

Once again the teamwork of this group blows me away - no matter what happened on the trail everyone pitched right in and got the group rolling again. When it got late we hauled some serious ass through sections of the trail without missing a beat.

Thanks again guys for the great time - I sure needed the break from my stupid job.

Jeff
