I was trying to round up a few rigs to wheel on Saturday in Big Bear. Planning to run Holcomb, Bull, and Gold, not necessarily in that order, but those three should take up a good portion of the day.
What were you guys planning on running? Depending on who is going to go (interest in my mailing for Big Bear), may follow along or meet up with you guys.

Thanks for warm welcome. I will be up there Saturday with a friend who's new to wheeling. We will be on the west side of john bull goofing around. I have a patriot blue TJ with a 4" lift, my buddy has a 93 YJ Black with no lift.I'd say we'd come with you on john bull, but i'm unsure of his skill and comfort level. If you guys see us say hi ! If you guys have Cb's maybe look for me on ch. 4. Ask for "Keith"

I will be leading a run on Saturday with a few rigs from JustRuns and SoCalWheeling. We will be meeting at the McDonalds on Big Bear Blvd at 9, departing around 9:30. Our schedule will be to run Holcomb, Bull, and then if time allows Gold Mtn. Anyone who would like to join us is more then welcome, I only request that you have all the needed safty and recovery equipment. We will be monitoring CB channel 10. Hoping for thunder, lightning, and down pour to make Bull an interesting run!! Let me know if we are waiting on your arrival...

I do have a question for you - based on your description, how are you planning on stringing Holcolm Creek, John Bull and Gold Mtn. together if you are starting in Big Bear? You would have to backtrack on pavement either way which doesn't make sense to me. Personally, if it were me, I'd meet in Running Springs and hit Holcolm and work my way up top to John Bull and run that from west to east and hit Gold Mtn on my way out if there was time. |

Robert was just saying that if your runing holcomb first, it would be silly to meet in big bear then drive down to holcomb.

On a week end it can take 30 min to an hour to get from big bear to the start of holcomb. you re better to meet in RS or at crab flats camp ground at the 3n16 2n17 intersection just out side of green valley lake.

Steve and I actually ran into this guy at the Chevron Station in the morning before we met up with Korys' group so I don't think he was listening to your advice Scott
All that being said - John Bull was paved like a highway - seems the couple of events they had up there in the past couple of months resulted in alot of rock stacking to assist stock or near stock Jeeps and speaking of which - the entire top of the mountain was like being on the 405. Jeep needs to stop selling Jeeps, especially to idiots. I have not encountered more rude, self entitled thinking folks in some time - particularly the 2 groups from the same club we encountered on Gold Mountain. Rules of Jeeping Number 1 - uphill travel ALWAYS has right of way. You are not entitled to it and courtesy is part of the deal in establishing who will pull over. Rules of Jeeping Number 2 - don't fawking stop in the middle of the trail, get out of your sh!tbox, open the hood and start tinkering around if folks below you are waiting to pass. I think that Lumpy Rutherford looking mugg is still trying to figure out how I got around his dumba$$ without hitting his crapbox. Some clubs apparently are fawking clueless on how to teach their members how to act, much less represent themselves and the club. They need to get a clue, a very serious clue. Lastly and on the same note of how much people suck - the hilljack that deposited his broken up plywood, drywall and lumber at the base of Gold Mountain needs to have his arms and legs broken. The fawking dump is literally just another 3 miles or so down the road Kory, All of this ranting aside, we appreciated the hospitality of your club and the invite. Thanx for a good run on JB. |

Yeah you did run into me... heading down to meet everyone at the base of Holcomb. I stayed in town Friday night.
I have to agree with you on the passing issue, though to avoid any head butting we always pulled over to let everyone pass, regardless of direction. Cant always assume that everyone knows the rules of the mountain, so there was no need to test them. Ome rant I do have is the inability for the tailman to indicate so we know when its clear to go, thats frustrating. Along with all the other pieces of trash i had tp pick up along the trail, I was furious at that pile of garbage at the base of Golg. God damn disrespectful contractors. I see that shiot all the time. [edited]. And on the note of the trash on the trail, you got to have a fairly capable rig to get to some parts of the trails where I picked up trash, so its needless to say it was a wheeler who tossed it. [edited] All of that asside it was a fun weekend; some good wheeling, but we did have to do a lot of "un"stacking or looking for more difficult lines. We all got through all three trails with only one sidewall puncture. Damn Gold rock garden! That shale can get sharp! OUCH! Ryan
