Question for ABQ-TJ.....and anyone else

Pureco='Pork' (Spanish)

At your site, which is loaded with great photos and such, there is this fella and his home built rig, along with photos of other outfits, having a rough go at that dried fall-escarptment, though they make it up. I had a question for you and any others who've been to "Pork Salad" by any other name.

In this link and the photos , he and the next rig seems to be having some trouble on this part and the climb itself

When I and my buddy in 1982 went through here in our new 7s, with Rancho 4' lifts, detroits in the rear, and 10.00 x 15 Thompson Terra Tires, we ran chains front and rear on that Kaibab Sandstone and at mild throttle, crawled up that in very sticky fashion with no fuss or muss:

Question then;

Do you or others here use chains in this sort of run, since they are the next best traction device next to lockers front and rear and in combination with selectable lockers, increase traction and pull by at least 100% or more?

BTW- your excellent photo montage brings back many memories from the 'Pork' so long ago...........jeezz, how can that run be 23 years ago?

Thanks in adance,

I can guarantee you that you didn't climb up that 23 years ago as that's a relatively fresh obstacle. Also no, we don't use chains.

I along with a select few others have literally walked up that climb with no issues. It appears that the key to that little section is proper tire pressure and placement with appropriate use of throttle both on and off.
I?ve seen one vehicle flop and one totally roll. I?ve seen many try only to get wedged into it. I personally have only watched two people make it clean. I?ve also seen it when there were no tire tracks on it.
