September - AZ

Casey's aunt lives near Phoenix and has been wanting us to visit for awhile. We're not sure on a date yet, just sometime in September, probably later in the month. We'll be setting solid plans in the next month or two, so let me know if you'd like to be kept up to speed and join us. Looks like I may head out, drop off Casey, go wheelin', then come back and relax for a day or two with them before heading home.

I might be able to help with leading a trail or two in the area. I suggest you plan to head to the Table mesa area where I can help you put your rigs to work. So count me in.

Would love to meet up with you and Joe (again) if you head out this way.

My **** is finally ready to run some of the harder stuff, not all but some.

Not sure how many days you are going to be out here, but there is two solid days of hard wheeling in TM. If anyone wants to head up by Glenn, Guy and I we can show you a few trails around here. We are about an hour north of TM. Glenn and I have 7 acres between the two of us so we have plenty of room for trailers, campers and what not. If you would like to crash at our house and get a hot shower that can be arranged. If that works I suggest hanging at our place on the weekend and doing TM during the week. During the week we may be able to camp at the river in Table Mesa without all the crazy's around, the weekends are just aweful.

Since you and Dillard were messing around this weekend, did you guys discuss the status of this trip.

BTW, I will be in Moab Sept 13-17th for our club run.

we brought it up a little. i have 7 days left of vacation time this year, of which i'd like to use maybe 1 over thanksgiving though not likely, and a couple around new years., so i've got maybe 4 days I'd like to use for this trip. Maybe we can try to arrange it for towards the end of the month? I can travel back home Sunday night/Monday. Maybe head out Tuesday the 25th after work. I'm thinking drop Casey off with her aunt for a couple days, wheel a couple days with one group, go back to her aunt's and relax for a day, then wheel with another group for a day or two. I dunno if you know them, I think his Pirate handle is JPcrawleram, he built a diablo sport a bit ago that's red...and the dude with the gold diablo...we'd talked about meeting up at some point as well.

What's your schedule look like for a good time for us to head out? How many days would be good to allot?

If Sept 19-24 work for you I am pretty flexable, I happen to be in Denver the 27-30th of Sept. I think Table Mesa should be high on your list. You definately would want a couple days in TM. Its about 1:15 min from my house, 15 minutes to an hour from Phoenix metro, depending on where you live (where does your wifes aunt live?). If those dates work and you guys want to crash up here for a night or two let me know. I have a trail or two around here as well. Could do two of them in a day as long as no serious breakage occurs.

BTW I don't believe I know the Diable guys.

Looking forward to runing together again Joe. Any weekend in Sept except the 15th and 16th works for me. I have some vacaction time left so I can do weekdays also.
My YJ will be up and running by the end of Aug. as it goes into the shop to start work on Sat. The new front axle is all built and ready. The rest is just welding and cutting
I can lead you to anything you want in Table Mesa plus some things in the area you may not want???

Jim,

If Sept don't work out I would still like to hook up with you this fall. Would like to do Die Hard and Matrix, if possible. BTW, if you are interested in Smasher let me know, weather has been rather cool here the past couple of weeks due to the rain. Seen some rain almost every day.

Adam, I'll check those dates tomorrow while I'm at work to see if I'm available or not. I certainly hope so.

Zman I should be up and running by the end of Aug. a couple weeks of testing and I am ready. I have run Die Hard three times it is a great trail. Matrix is on our list for this fall we will bring support vehicles and plan for an all weekend run. It will be limited to max of 4 rigs. Have you walked Matrix?

workin on joe's rig this weekend got me back into the swing of things and i've been working on my the past couple of nights. the current job is the dash, tired of zip tied gauges. I'm making good progress, then I get to notch the frame up front after Joe pointed out some slight clearance issues If I keep at it, working steady but not so much to get burned out, I should have it all finished up and painted and all pretty like by then.

BTW, I though some of you guys would like to know that Glenn Campbell could not take it anymore after he saw Guy and I tube out our junk with larger tires. His jeep is now ripped apart and is getting 60's installed, 102" WB and with 39.5" tires.

IROK's of course.

Regretfully, I work out of town from Sept 3rd-7th, then roll right into another training/teaching event Sept 10th-21st. So most of September is booked for me.

With Joel in Denver 27-30 Sept, that makes shifting it to that time frame not such a good idea either.

Perhaps I'll be able to go another time.

I would be open for the first two weeks of October too. It is still a little warm here in Sept.

Matt,

Rockwells are overrated. JP magazine rated my 14B FF tougher than a Rockwell. Of course they also said a 8.8 was marginally better than a D35.

Jeep is working awesome. Totally different than my other two jeeps. I can tell you that I do miss not having a flat skid, I hit the stock one alot, even with 39.5's. Jeep has had "zero" break downs and just a few minor tweaks. Going to be building a shop this fall and already have a hoist paid for. Once the shop is done I will finish the Jeep. Most of the work is cosmetic and installation of a rear sway bar along with the flat skid. Right now if there is one thing that I would change it would be an ARB for the rear. With detroits front and rear, 108" WB, turning in sand/loose gravel sucks.

Not alot of action pics yet because we lost our camera charger, then my son took pics on a recent run but it ended up being everyone but me.

You think your going to be able to wheel with us?

The 10-14 October dates work well for me, so if these are good for others & agreed upon, I'm in.
