In a quandry......

I am in the process of completing the build on my camper/trailer and I am trying to match beadlocked rims for the trailer to the Jeep. I currently have the Classic 8's from Alcoa/Mickey Thompson that have been converted by Champion to beadlocks using the 3" lockring.

My problem is that Champion no longer produces the 3" lockring but I would like match the rings (yea yea.....I know).

My question is would any of you be interested in buying my 3" lockrings? I would have 5 of the 15" rings for sale with some mild rock rash on them.

You are putting beadlocks on your trailer?

Why? I'm not busting your balls, I'm genuinely curious.

I am planning on being alone at times as well as being far from services so I need to be able to get my junk out by myself. I am planning on trips both over the Mojave Road as well as Camino Del Diablo. Both trips are in the 100-150 mile range in length and out in the middle of the desert. Baja is also in the mix and I don't want to have to rely on others for help.

Accordingly....I want all the rims on my rig to match and can be swapped over to the Jeep if necessary.......particularly if I suffer a major sidewall breach. In that case, I would repair the tire as best I could and then swap the breached tire to the trailer so as to not compromise the Jeep.

I'm not doing it just for the bling :flippy:

Edit: While it might not make it through Sledge (no reason to with camp close by) ......it will be quite at home on the Dusy or the Con.

Put a little motor and make the trailer give the jeep a push at the time of need.

Your Jeep looks good and I'm sure your trailer will also. If you have the means, why not go bling and make them match? With all the money spent thus far, what's a few hundred more bucks?

Post pics when done!!

I thought that was what he was doing? Selling the rings he has so he can purchase a new set (for TJ and trailer)....or maybe I missed something.

Makes sense - I hadn't thought about having all the spares be interchangeable.

Cool.

New rings from Champion are in the 65-75 dollar range. I would like to get 35 for them but if someone wants to make me a counter...I'm all ears. Thanx.

I saw your for sale post and not to throw a monkey wrench into your plans, but do you really need locking rings on the trailer?

I understand why you would want them, but if you really damaged a wheel so badly on the jeep that you needed to pull a wheel from the trailer, does it really matter if you have a ring or not?

Just so long as you have matching tires, you'd still be able to get off the trail.

You could just keep your rings for your jeep and just get matching, non beadlock tires for your trailer, no?

Isn't that more simple?

Anyway, just curious.

Fair enough.

Are you getting the trailer in black as well for the complete matching scheme?

Nope....I wanted black but didn't go for it due to heat build-up in the boxes and particularly for the main box where the ARB fridge will be mounted. It will be instead, a clearcoated metallic silver powdercoat although the frame will be black. I want the wheels and tires to match for reasons other than simply aesthetic as mentioned above.

The trailer was due this week but its been delayed 10 days or so. All I have left now (besides the 2nd motor rebuild) is to install the new rear swaybar on the Jeep, figure out the hitch and get the shower pump mounted in the ammo can and then I should be all set for my late July trip.

I'll be posting pictures of everything when its all done.
