YJ 4.0L Misfire/ Stalling
Making me crazy. The problem is intermittent with no pattern I can see. Engine just misfires, pops a couple of times then dies, cold or warm, no matter the throttle setting or speed. Starts right back up with no waiting of extended cranking.
1994 YJ 4.0L MT w/ 120K miles good runner until this came up. Fresh plugs, dist cap & rotor, TPS, CPS, MAP sensor & fuel filter. Checked and cleaned all the connectors I could find. Only code that came up was #13 'Map Sensor Vacuum' hence the new MAP sensor. The pulse ring on the cam position sensor does have some rust on it, but I don't know if the will effect anything. I don't quite know where to go next. Should I continue on down the ignition side ie; coil / cam position sensor or look at the fuel pump? Any input or suggestions will be very much appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I seem to recall someone having had a similar problem recently Mike and it had to do with the distributor shaft somehow... like something had worn and it was causing the camshaft position sensor (I think!) losing its timing with the crankshaft position sensor.
