Front drive shaft diameter question
Anyone know the diameter of the front driveshaft on an auto equipped TJ ?
We (Dan) just noticed yesterday, that the little contact (paint rubbed off), on my front driveshaft was not from contact with the skid, as I had thought, but it's actually making light contact with the sode of the tranny pan.. My TJ has the thicker driveshaft, that's shipped with a manual tranny. I'm going to get another one made for the front, maybe 1/4" smaller diameter or so, but was wondering what the diameter of the OEM one is. Fred |

Fred,
My '97 is 2.5" and my spare off a later model manual is 1.75". It's my understanding somewhere after '97 they made them all smaller. Ron

Fred, the one for the autos is 1.75
Chris L.'s 00 has the larger diameter because he has the manual. The smaller diameter is to solve the issue you are talking about.

Yes, I now remember the smaller diameter shaft was from an auto.
Gettin' old is a bitch.
