Cool We be there

Rich and Cork will be there. It is always fun to go and see all of the interesting vehicles. Someone we know even won a nice winch there one year for doing a good deed. A little welding was involved.

Thinking about it. But I'm supposed to go to Japan in October.

Probably out.

Pass - I can't see paying them $60 for the privledge of getting jerked around. Once was enough last year. I would prefer to go with my small group of trusted friends thank you very much and use my $60 that way.

I wasn't planning on going either, but it seems that a couple of friends of mine need to practice before the CRCA event the weekend of October 18, 2002 and as I understand it they will be on the "Masters Course", where let me remind them "There will be NO rock stacking" So I might go along just to watch the entertainment. Do you think that Victory Valley would just let me pay for the Tri-Tip dinner?

While I don't necessarily think of running Jack with 20+ yahoos as the best way to run the hammers, I will do it, as I assume this helps support V.V. & the work they have put into the hammers.
Kat, you can have my Tri-tip dinner coupon.
Rich W. what trail are you signing up for?

Not sure

Paul, I will sign up for whichever trail you do. I agree with supporting Victor Valley for all of the work they did to open these trails. I believe Chuck Shaner told me that they had over 1000 man hours into opening Sledge. It is always a fun weekend. The best day can be Sunday. I doubt that there have ever been 25% of the people on a trail on Sunday.

Pay $60.00 for someone to tell me what to do and how to drive?? No thanks. My opinion the last good Fun In The Desert was the first one. I don't much care for organized runs....don't play well with others.

Let me put this as gently as I can. We kinda look at this section to meet and organize what we may consider doing.

That said, I have attended many of these and no one ever told me how or where to drive. I do remember lining up behind one of the signs that had trail names on it. That was about the end of it though as far as someone directing me and my jeep. I did have a few folks laughing at my driving though.

As far as the 60 bucks goes, I am going with my friends, I appreciate the time and effort VV has put into the trails out there, and I buy raffle tickets to support the various 4X friendly associations. I figure it's money well spent. Sorta give back a little of what you get. If you never go there and enjoy the trails, then I fully understand.

I probably won't even get to drive my jeep out there this year, and I am still sending in my money. I guess that's one way to have no one tell me where to go and how to drive.

I completely understand the supporting of the cause but given what I was provided a glimpse of last year, my take is that I would rather support the trails by doing a trail clean-up day or some trail maintenance or get involved with the BLM. The V V 4 W folks I was exposed to last year did not go over very well with me both on the trail and when we got back. They had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for us to get any of the tri-tip dinner we paid for. I will not even go into the story on why we were late.

Ron, as for Tri-tip, I had a very nice tri-tip dinner at HDR a couple of weeks back and I think the Bill Baileys that I usually pack in my cooler was better than what I got last October.

Sorry if I have offended you. I have had bad experiences at two Fun In The Desert runs in a row and was just expressing my opinion. I will keep any negative thoughts to myself in the future.

Don't misunderstand, you are welcome to relate any bad experiences you wish. We welcome honesty in most any fashion. It is just that these organizational threads have a tendency to run way off topic and you have to sift through a myriad of crap to find out what's happening when.

Go over to the main forum and snivel as much as you like. I do.

I guess that I could safely say that you and Paul make for some rotten spectators then.

I might go and watch/help. Don't think I'm up to driving them (experience wise).

I hope to get over Sledge at least once by October - it would be my FIRST!

I have sent my registration in for Wrecking Ball.
Jeff, you're welcome to ride along with me if you like, but by Oct. 12th I'm sure you will have taken your Jeep over at least 1 Hammer trail.

Post Free Ticket

I have paid for a trip over Sledge Hammer, 2 dinners and a T-Shirt. I can't go because I am moving this weekend. Does anyone want to go in my place? I would hate for it to go to waste.
