Are you some kind of minority? If yes, we can give you the sticker, even if you don't know the right answer.

Nailer,

Thanks for trying. Nope those two are not correct numbers.

You are the Federal Unemployment Compensation Fund's best friend (you give them way too much money)

Well, it's OLD 6th grade. Must be somewhere on the level of PhD by today's terms.

The correct answer is 50 lbs.

You guys are missing an important moment: We had 100% berries in the beginning, we sill have 100% at the end. It's just that in the course of 3 days our berries were loosing weight like crazy due to water evaporation.

We know that at delivery time 100% of berries weighted 100 lbs. Since 99% of the berries content was water, we can say that the stuff that stays there and does not evaporate (skins, etc.) weights 1 lb (100% - 99% = 1% from 100 lbs).

After three days the water content fell 1%, therefore after three days we have only 98% of water in the berries: 99% - 1% = 98%.

If there is 98% of water in the berries, how much of the skins and stuff do we have? 100% - 98% = 2%

We have 2%, and we know that since this stuff does not evaporate like water, the weight of it remained constant ? 1 pound.

If 2% weight is one pound. How much is 100% weight (or all berries)? 1 / 2 * 100 = 50 lbs.

The answer is 50 lbs.

that's just it... i cant see the 2%... i see one of the 2% being the skin, which is a constant and does not apply. so... i see 1%
i just dont get it

The water content goes down as the berries dry up. Skins and stuff stay the same weight wise, but as we get less and less water in the berries, percent wise we have more skins and stuff.

When water goes down 1% that means skins and stuff go up 1%.

Ever tried raisins? They are much less juicy than grapes. Just kidding, off course you tried raisins.

We had 99% of water in the berries at the begging; at the end we have 98% of water. 100 ? 98 = 2 this is where the 2% came from.

Think of it like this, in the beginning the water weights 99lbs (99% of 100 lbs total) therefore the rest (let?s call it solids) weight 1 lb. Since the solids are a constant they'll always weight 1 lb. When the water drops to 98% of the total weight the solids now make up 2% of the berries total weight (100% - 98% = 2%). We know the solids weight 1 lb and that they now represent 2% of the total weight. So if 2% = 1lb then 1% = .5 lbs and the remaining 98% is 49 lbs (98 x .5 = 49). The water now weights 49 lbs and the solids are still one pound thus the new total weight is 50 lbs...

if your 100# box of grapes lost 5# in 3 days.... you better throw them on the screen to become raisins i now see the twisted way you arive at the number, but it isnt REAL! LOL
anyway.... i'll wait for the next sticker opertunity, and try that one.
