Why Bullet physics? Ive been working on a bladder pump for the medical industry. Flashed it first..not to impressive
Heres one that drops a chain link and some blue balls ( ha aha ) onto a stacked pyramid. Got a 4 wheel vehicle but go some bugs to work out. That below is a big o file. http://www.icorva.com/Photography/Doc4.avi |

What is this for Vern?
I don't understand. Please explain the purpose of this "Bullet Physics" for these items. These are some cool videos, and great work in a 3d program. Did you do these? |

Bullet physics is how things really react in nature. Of course there's some tweaking. The sample's shown are hard body physics.
The area I'm struggling a bit is the soft body physics. Thats lets say a tire I want to deflate, rotate and climb up an hard body object. I cant even keep the tire on the rim with out it flying off into space or crashing the computor. These samples based on how well the surface texture mapping is can be inserted into a movie and you cant tell if its real or fake. Fun stuff....steep learning curve... |

Could you elaborate on this?

Though Solidworks does a great job with animation/ simulation it lacks in how real world physics works.
Example, take a balloon and squeeze in, that would be a soft body physics. It stretches. That could be done by trial and error in SW. Its getting so that the " Sell" of a product goes hand in foot with the presentation. The better the presentation the easier to obtain the funding or get the project approved. Did a flash animation, not very real and in 2D. Got some good chump change for it. But thats where it died. Our design engineer feels we could have opened a bigger door after seeing some basics of the physics engine and using that in a 3D presentation. So far on the soft physics not getting very far. I'll post a example sometime in the next week or so. |

Looking at the dynamics of the rolling tire, it appears similar to the smooth, fluid motion they try to obtain for video games. How would the software you are using compare to say...Havok Physics?

They are simular, I would need to read up a bit. Looks like hard body physics.
I'm looking more into this application. Graphics are fun but you need to back that up with data. http://www.comsol.com/ |

Ok, gaming graphics require low triangulation. This means no high end details. If you retopo the structure/ object ( surface map) it would need to be in a lower resolution.
Movies such as Avatar is all high res triangulation. The following picture was done in the same program as the tire but in high res and surfaced mapped to perfection. It would not work in a video game. This guy has some great sculptures |

That makes sense. I know as polygon count goes up, workload on the processor increases and frame rate can suffer. Great image, BTW. Lots of detail.

Ok to hot to wheel, heres a short animation with high res shaders and depth maps..its pretty cool.

Nice. I have a bowling alley just like that in my private bunker.
