Street tire opinions of goodyear fortera silentarmor?

I'm looking to replace my ZJ tires before the winter... All the reviews that I've read seem to suggest that Goodyear Fortera SilentArmor tires are solid all the way around as all-weather highway tires.

If you've run into these tires before and have a thought on them, I'm interested to hear what you think.

Thks

Looks like I'll be the first one chiming in with a review, since I just placed the order for four of them.

Review is in.

As long as the tread life hangs in there, I would say that these tires provide a nicer and quieter ride than anything I've had before. They also do an excellent job with cornering, and I felt rather confident with them in heavy rain. Overall, I am very very happy with them after 3000 miles - very satisfied.

Even though this thread has been a one man show, thanks for the review. I'm considering them for my WJ.

I didn't see this thread until this morning. I don't know anything about the SilentArmor , but another tire to consider is the Michelin CrossTerrain SUV for an all weather highway tire.

Last November, I put cross terrains on my wife's 4runner and I am very pleased with them.

In comparison to the Goodyear RT/S that they came with, the cross terrains are:
- queiter
- better handling
- better in rain
- better in snow.

We don't wheel this vehicle, so I don't know how they are off pavement.

Well I have eight months and about 25k miles in... and I am still a big fan.

Incidentally, at the time I picked them out, they were still "too new" to accumulate any statistics on tirerack.com based on customer reviews.

They're now the #2 tire of 64 similar tires in their category, based on 157 customer reviews.

I'd buy them again.

PK

EDIT: I have no experience with them, but the #1 tire is the Goodyear Fortera TripleTred. I guess Goodyear must be doing something right... or they have great PR.

PK, I'm glad you are happy with your tires.

Its been a while since I looked at the rankings on tirerack.

It is curious that of 64 tires listed, two of the tires account for over 1/4 of the reported miles, three over a third and 7 account for over 1/2 of the reported miles in this comparison.

of the top three mileage reported tires, two are in the top ten (both michelins) and the goodyear RT/S is near the bottom.

ps: here is the page:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...y.jsp?type=HAS

pps: it is really easy to copy the table and paste it into a spreadsheet to sort/add and othewise mess with the data
