I have seen pictures of Blaine's, and that's what I'm shooting for; however, I don't know how I could make a stand-alone crossmember so I probably won't. There is a local place that sells new and used steel and aluminum, but I haven't decided yet on what I will use. The axles are my biggest concern because they may cost ~20x more than my flat skid material. If I don't need them then I have more reason to build the skid. However, it doesn't make sense to me to spend money and time on developing a skid that won't work with what I have (or can easily acquire). Hence, my question related to flat skids and standard rotation/low pinion differentials (which I either have or can obtain much easier).
