Crankshaft Position Sensor, early '97 TJ w/4.0L and 5-speed tranny

This CPS fits only early 1997 Wrangler TJs with the 4.0L and 5-speed manual transmission. Mine was made 3/96 so if your '97 is a late '97, odds are it will not fit as Jeep switched plug types mid-'97 model year.
If you have a '97 4.0L with the 5-speed, pick this up to use as a spare even if you don't yet need it. Carry it with you since a CPS can fail just when you least expect it and leave you stranded.

I'll try to figure that out for you tonight Erik. I bought a spare CPS years ago and Blaine discovered that it wasn't the right one for later model TJs so yep, let's make sure we're talking about the right sensor.

Here it is Erik... 56027866AC.

That p/n physically matches what is on my old 5-speed manual tranny and the label on the bag my spare CPS is in, but it doesn't match the p/n shown on the dealer's computer for a '97. I checked that tonight when I stopped by my dealer to exchange a tranny mount. I imagine that is because Jeep changed the CPS plug type sometime mid '97 model year.
