Re Gearing Info Needed

I run 35's with an 03 AUTO and will be re-gearing soon and was originally going to 4:88's, now with Alloy having 5:13's available I was wondering if they might be better with the slushbox. My rig is mostly a trailer queen but I do drive it on the street occasionaly.

I was worried the 5:13's would be weak at the pinion but I found out there is only 1-tooth difference between the 4:88 & 5:13's.

Any of you gearheads have input on this?

Thanks in advance,

Roger

put your calcs in here come up with a crawl ratio and to see your highway ratio just put in your 5th gear ratio. You can get all the specs for your transmission gears and t-case gears from jeeps website for any year.

This is what I did then I decided on what gears to go with. Fortunately you have the 4:1 case gears which makes decisions easier (I got the atlas 4.3:1)

imho, that is just too low.

if you want to keep the stock RPM's with your axles.

456 would put you stock.

I dont 513s are available in the "thick" version for the rubicon, I may be wrong.

Either way 513's are wayy low with an automatic..

wouldn't that depend on how much overdrive you have?

NOPE!!!.

I have a 5 speed auto with OD in my ZJ an I can tell you that with 35's and 456, it is perfect.

the same would hold tru in a TJ or any AUTO..

do the math.. 31's with 4:10s same RPM as 35's with 4.56

Not to mention in 4wdlo with an auto (4-1 in your rubi) and add 513's you are going to be soo low, you may not be able to stop

the general consensus is this

33's 4:10's-4:27's

35's 4:56=4:88

37's 4.88-5:13's

Most guys I know run 35's with 4:56's and it is just about perfect RPM's at highway speed
