$4.79 per gallon of diesel
I just paid $4.799 per gallon to fill-up.
This is getting depressing. The only consolation is that the Royal Dutch Shell shares, I forced my financial adviser to purchase with my retirement money, have been going up, unlike s#itty mutual funds he suggested. |

Just get a prius already sergey. You can get in in white and record a looping soundtrack of your ford's engine to play in the CD player while driving around.
Sure it won't quite be the same thing, but you'll be getting 43mpg at $3.89 a gallon. |

Well, I only drive about 16 miles to work, so I am not very hard hit on the immediate level, but when I think about people in general, and businesses, and what this does to the economy then I get depressed.
As for new vehicle: I have about 95% decided to order a 4-door Rubicon as soon as they start taking the 2009 model year orders; new engine or not. |

Wow, diesel is just outrageously priced now. In the early 80's, I used to take my VW Dasher diesel I installed an auxilliary 10 gallon tank in so it held around 22 gallons across the border into Tijuana and fill it up for $4-5 and drive it for nearly 900 miles. The lines at Tijuana's diesel pumps were often ten deep with Americans buying cheap diesel for their VWs, Mercedes, etc.. Those were the days to own a diesel.
I'm sorry you have to pay so much for your really nice diesel truck Sergey, let's hope it settles down before too long. |

A 4 door JK would be nice. I'd really like one too.

I paid $4.33 in Cortez, CO on Tuesday going to MOab....today I paid $4.51 at the same station on the way home.
I saw some at $4.69-$4.79 in Moab...and saw one place (can't remember where) that had regular for $3.99. Might have been Bloomfield, NM.

Diesel was $5.27 in Crescent City, CA a few days ago...good thing the rental was gas (that was "only" $3.97 across the Oregon border Brookings).

This isn't very good news for those who travel to MX for diesel:

Sergey,
Last December, I traded in my TJ for a JK Unlimited "X" 4X4X4. My JK is fully loaded with auto tranny, rear locker, electronic discos, A/C, hard top, 17" wheels & tires, skid plates, satellite radio, Rubicon suspension, etc, etc. The main differences between it and the Rubicon is a locked D44 front axle, 4.10 gear ratio and a crawl ration of 73 to 1. My "X's" crawl ratio of 38.9 to 1 with 3.73 gear ratio. They both have auto windows & locks, leather trimmed steering wheel and height adjustable driver's seat. At the time, the biggest difference was $8,000 more for the Rubicon. Don't know if that's still the case. My main reason for buying my "X" was to improve my mileage. and still drive a Jeep. The TJ got 12 mpg on a really good day. So far, the "X" is getting 21.5 mpg over all. In that respect, it has exceeded my expectations. So far I have added a steel winch bumper, Warn 9000i winch, rock rails and 17" GY Silent Armor tires. My upgrades to date have been aimed at providing some upgraded level of off road capability without sacrificing MPG. So far, so good. JV is out of the question. Check out the JK Rubicon Unlimited. I am sure you will like it. Fred |
