Red Loctite and axle shaft UJs?
What is the consensus for using red loctite when installing axle shaft UJs?
This came up on a (local to me) board. I suggested red loctite when installing the axle joints, but after I thought more about it I've never done this. I have used Red loctite on driveshaft U-joints with apparent success -- they survivied) -- , but I've never done this with 297 joints. any thoughts? more details: he has new alloy USA shafts and will be installing 297x (aka 760) joints for an HP44 (tera 50). searching found one reference, but it relates to patching up a damaged shaft not setting up a brand new one. http://www.jeepbbs.net/forums/showth...ht=loctite+cap - Dan ps: He's not going with CTMs at this time for financial reasons I think.

I've used it from time to time, but honestly can't tell any difference. The higher cap retention of the harder and stronger yokes makes it difficult to tell.
