Rubicon Trip Photos
Sunday I just got back from spending 3 days on the Con. It's a cool now as it was when I last ran it (2001) , except for the sadness of not being able to camp at Spider Lake We ran into a Jeep Jamboree USA group on Fri/Sat. We kinda mingled (cool having Hagen Daas ice cream at Rubicon Springs). They put on quite an event for the money. Here's a link to the album and a few photos to enjoy.

Nice pictures, thank you for sharing. I like the deep blue sky reflection in the lake contrasting with green leaves.

Good pics, the wildlife pics were great. It'd be nice if I could run the Rubicon before I get my wheelchair issued, what a great trail. Gorgeous country up there, thanks for sharing those!!

I understand you guys met up with my usual group of about 12 rigs up there? Rigs that may have stood out in your mind:
White Toyo Forerunner on full widths, complete aluminum suspension and steering by FST and coilovers. Big blue TJ with V-8 power and RE LA lift. Big red CJ-5 stretched to 111" with hand fabbed 3/16" body, V-8 on 42" swampers and quarter elliptical rear. Sick blue YJ on coilovers and 38" Swampers with F&R triangulated suspension. Front is a three link. Chromed out Toys By Troy TJ in white. They were telling me about JC Fabs sweet cage in his gold unlimited. Your pictures are great!!!

You all might also want to get to the "con sooner as opposed to later - the wackos have made closing down the El Dorado to wheeling a big priority - another reason for join/donating to the BRC as noted elsewhere on this board. Nice pix Michael - is that Old Sluice I see in a couple of those pictures? |

If so I wheeled Pritchet Canyon with him. Very cool guy indeed Through Joe Dillard, we were invited to run Pritchet with the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Assoc.) Great group of guys. Definatley hope I'm living life like that when I get into the "golden" years.

FWIW, after an email and phone conversation with Stu earlier today, I now have a room reserved for Moab next May. If I don't meet up with you locally this winter, I'm sure I'll run a trail or 2 with you next year. |
