Question learning to drive stick the RIGHT way!

Its a 95 xj sport and im fine starting in first( moving from a stand still) buty when shifting to 2nd, when i let the clutch out it bucks a little. Am I supposed to let the clutch out slowly with a little of gas applied when letting the clutch out? I want to make my shifting smooth and finally know the right way to shift. (my friends that say they can drive stick can barely get moving in first with out stalling. We are all learning right now to be better.)
thanks

Think of the gas pedal and clutch as a see-saw. Not proportional, but it sort of follows that principle.

Maybe you could find someone local who is experienced in driving a manual to ride with you and give you pointers?

Sounds as if maybe you aren't gaining enough speed prior to attempting to shift to the next gear. Keep practicing.

The clutch is a funny thing I worked in a reman place for 10 years there can be mechanical reasons for the way it is acting also.
