Track bar issues. Help.
My jeep has taken a noticable lean to the passenger side, about a 2 inch drop.
I've been thinking of switching the springs side to side to see if that's the issue, when I noticed that my track is off by just about 2.5 inches. Now the track bars were put on and measured correctly by someone who knew what they were doing (i.e. not me). Now they are off. So, the question is: Are sagging springs the reason the track is off? Is the track off because of the sagging springs? Combination of both? Why would only on side go bad? Should I swap springs or adjust the track bar, or both? What other possible problems or issues caused this? Other than tire wear, what problems could this cause? 98 Jeep TJ, 4" lift, Re track bar front and rear. The brackettes on the frame and axle are fine (just had them rewelded about two months ago) for the rear, and the front passed a cursory look with out issues. Help.

I would think you can't really accurately measure the centering of the axle with the Jeep sagging 2.5 inches on the passenger side. What kind of springs do you have in there?

Procomp springs for a 4" lift.
If I lift the jeep up and place the rear bumper on jack stands, that should ensure that it's level, should I try that?

I would. If it centers you have your answer. If it doesn't then you can ponder it some more. I would think switching them would just make the other side sag. Either way I would think seriously about getting new springs. They don't last forever and your roll might have put some fatal pressure on the sagging one.

I wonder why I didn't think of the roll in all of this.
Man, new springs, new rear shocks, new front window: I'm gonna be in the hot seat! The only reason why I'm thinking of swaping the spring location is to make sure it's not something else odd..

the pass. side rear tends to sag more/quicker than the driver side, but 2 " on a 4" lift
Try swapping them around and see if the difference is still that big (without adjusting the trackbar yet) .......... BTW: was it on level ground?

Iceman/Ron,
I parked in my garage; which is close to level. But, knowing that it's not perfect, I parked facing the opposite direction once just to check. (That is to say, I backed it in.) Same problem. The spring on the right side has almost fully colapsed now. I get a full 3" dropp on the right side. Left turns are scary, at best. Luckily, I was sold springs that have a lifetime warrenty, and I will get new springs, under warrenty on tuesday. I'm going to assume that when the new springs go in, it will level out. If not, I'll start playing with the track bars. Shocks, steering, new window.. yikes.

I have a feeling you are wishing you didn't turn that petty little misshap at Los Coyotes into the insurance Co.?
I'm sure I didn't tell you so but wanted to..... |

William,
My son got rid of his Jeep and I had him take the RE 4 1/2" springs I gave him off. You are welcome to them if you want them. Actually I promised them to Sean before I knew my son took them. I'll send them down if either of you want them. Ron |

Ron,
Thanks for the offer! I'm getting replacement ones from procomp for free, the ones I have are under warrenty, all I have to pay is the hassle of dealing with 4WPH. I'm not sure, but I think the roll didn't have much to do with the spring's demise. As I landed semi-flat on the roof, and then simply settled on the side.
