Exclamation It's BLM land

Now, who said that our camping site was not on BLM land?
It is on BLM land, here, take a look at the map, our camp site
is depicted by the little blue square in the quad 35. The area
is marked yellow, which means ? Public Lands (BLM).

Here's a link to the rules for primative camping on BLM land.

Here is for easier orientation: a GPS track I made going
home from the camping site via 247 towards Victorville.
You can easily see where our usual road that goes
from 247 to the camping is:

That's good news Sergey. Although I don't prefer to find a new camp at this point in time, I also would not like to have been camping on private property.

Now that I know where I was camped, I'll stay there for awhile until I find a more wind resistant spot. Thanks for doing the research.

I think you guys should camp on the lake beds. That way you can see the wind coming.

Post I also asked the BLM about our camping spot, here is their response.

Ms. Johnson,

If I understand you correctly the area you are referring to would be OK to camp there. However, I will send another e mail with of that area just in case. The dark shaded areas (yellow) designate public land. If you camp in a vehicle, you can camp off any posted Open Route, (but no more than 300 feet) as long as your group does not block traffic on the road or trail. The white areas on the map designate private land, and the blue is State Land. After you open the file it will allow you to increase the size giving you a better look of the area.

Should you need further assiatance please feel free to contact me.

I want to go camping at Johnson Valley, OHV. If I enter
at Boone road do I have to travel all the way to the lakebed before I stop to camp or can I camp anywhere along the Main Entrance so long as I don't block the road?

Specifically, there is a nice flat spot shortly after the left turn to the lakebed and before the wash, can I camp on the left side of the road there before the wash?

Thank you,
Kathryn

sergie, where did that map come from? I'd like to find a set that is up to date and shows all the different types of boundries.

The very last map came from Garmin Map source software with US Topo maps loaded. I don't really recommend Map Source, but it does the job when it comes to topo mapping in most cases.

I have both of the Garmin mapsets for my Vista. I've looked at others and even bought the national geographic topo maps but have not found a replacements for the Garmin stuff.
