tire size

customer has 96 G.C. 4.0. Jeeps intent was to have 215-75 tires on it Customer has 225-75 on now & want me to put 235-75 on.
It's completely un-modified & I'm concerned about it turning into a slug, poor (well, worse) gas milage, odd or bouncy ride. ?????

What axle ratio does it have? If it's 3.73, the power will be fine. That doesn't necessarily mean bigger the tires will fit but if they have adequate clearance, I'd go ahead and do it. You'll find the axle ratio embossed into a tag bolted onto the diff cover. If the tires need more clearance to fit and he still wants them, he can always have 1" coil spring spacers installed which are easily installed and very inexpensive.

3.55 makes sense for a '96. That 235/75 is still a pretty small diameter tire so far as Jeeps go, so with the JGC's automatic transmission, performance should still be ok with the 3.55. If it physically fits with enough clearance around it that is.
