Hoping to hammer out the details on chassis specs tomorrow (tube size/material upgrade) and then soon as it's ready I'll pick it up

So I posted an explanation about the contest and links to register and vote on my homepage. I don't really get much traffic to my site because I have NO CONTENT! but this past week I transferred 6.3 gigs of files, between the minimal graphics on the page and the video I had mixed of Katherine's footage (should have asked for permission, I apologize, just got caught up in things) Tuesday had around 400 page views.

this image was served 10,685 times, the movie 251 times. Not amazing traffic by any means, but certainly quite a spike for a server i simply use to host my pictures on. Campaigning on 25 sites and email lists that I'm aware of, plus family spreading the word to coworkers friends and other family (some who are even 4wheelers that hadn't heard of pirate but are stoked to have found it now, so I hear) and even found londonautoclub.org in my stats. kuh-razy.

I finally figured out the source of their extreme bitterness over this whole ordeal. Wally just posted that HE was the one that lost. Correctly, he should have stated there was one winner and 4 others who lost.

The only reason they or he thinks that is because they thought with a couple of days to go and a hundred point lead, they had it locked up solid. They counted their chickens a bit too early.

The funny thing is Adam and I spoke about him making shirts for Wally had Wally won. Something cute to show no hard feelings.

I think now we should make about a 100 or so with "I stole Wally's Prize" on them. Lord knows they ain't listening to any other logic.

Lesson one to Wally

Don't tug on Superman's cape
Don't spit into the wind
Don't pull the mask off the ole Lone Ranger
And NEVER predict victor prior to actually winning

Like I said when you were here in the driveway. What have you got to lose? The way it was going with him getting 1 to 2 votes every time you got 1 was most certainly a losing strategy.

I did figure they would think they had it locked up though. I just wasn't sure if we could coordinate and generate enough enthusiasm on the boards.

I will tell you where the genius was though. Whoever came up with editing the titles to show the count and updates. That's what got folks fired up.

It wasn't until the contest thread actually slipped off the first page on POR that I saw a glimmer of hope that they had become complacent and we might be able to ambush them.

Where they screwed up is they quit campaigning. Had they kept it up, no one would have been able to catch them.

That comment does explain the very large quantities of bitterness though.

Set the pickup date today for 8/12. I have until then to move my Jeep from the trailer to the garage, and the Jeep in the garage to the trailer. Will remove my 4 trip old cage and start stripping things down. Hate to cut the cage up but what else can I do? Anybody have a young kid that needs a jungle gym?

Chef-you got some votes from the potato state, too.

Now, what is the $ value of this prize?
Is anyone willing to set this idea up and carry it out? We get enough donations to buy this prize and give it to Wally so his crowd shuts up. Count me in for $20. If this comes about, it has to be posted on Colo 4x4 board.
Anyway someone can turn this around to be an advertising scheme?

We've actually discussed ways to help Wally get a sizeable chunk of one of these through various fundraisers, but after going a few rounds with them over there, they can pretty much do it themselves.

Besides, with the level of bitterness at this point, anything nice that you do will be taken as proof that their accusations of rigging the vote, blatant cheating, and manipulation are founded instead of just baseless bickering.

Adam has a buddy that's going to help with a clean rust free frame, Joe's offered to haul it out there on one of his trips, I offered up availability of any or all of my not so minor price connections, (which were declined), so at this point, I'm about done.

They don't want help, they just want to bitch.

do you guys know if there are different levels of accessibility at pirate? i tried once or twice to go to the diablo thread and vote...but it never allowed me too. it would let me go to the thread but when i tried to vote it said i don't have permission to access that section. i also can't view the above linked section that has a pic of what chef won. but i can access the sellers section for buying stuff...along with pm'ing people about prices.
if it makes any difference, i can't find a search button either - which is strange because i always heard there was some info to be had on that site if you just searched long enough.
chris (congrats on the win!)

Yes there are, you need to be a logged-in registered user to vote there. That pool has ended, though, so you can't vote anymore even if you are registered.

Also you need to access the link posted by Adam from pirates, when their software senses that you clicked from outside their web site it blocks the picture.

They want you to be a paying member to use their search function. Just use google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...Apirate4x4.com
