I guess I have been living in a cave since I have not seen or heard of these.

Do these typically get installed between the roller feeder inside the MIG and the exit wall where it feeds the gun, or before the feeder?

I know....I'm showing my ignorance.

Before the feeder.

They wipe the dirt, dust, and minor rust from the wire, and then lubes it before it enters the drive rollers.

Keeps the entire system cleaner, and really extends whip liner life.

They also sell dry pads, and the lube in a bottle so that you can saturate them once they dry out.

Too funny.... The salesman that sold me my first welder also sold me a bottle of pink fluid that I was somehow supposed to lube the wire with. Makes perfect sence now

Once in a blue moon I remember the nozzle dip

The pink fluid has talc in it that settles out into a hard lump in the bottom that almost no amount of shaking will rehomogenize.

I switched to some stuff in a lighter fluid can and the felt wipers that seems to work better.

I hate nozzle dip, I use spray instead.

Nozzle dip requires an extremely hot nozzle. Otherwise it makes a huge mess, and can contribute to porosity.

I use it now and then at work, rarely in the garage.

You guys shold use the spray.

I have some anti-spatter spray that I got way back when I bought my Hobart 135 that Jason Williams now has. I don't recall what brand it is, but it has a generic looking white label with black print and no color. I used it once or twice over the last 7-8 years. It sits on my welding cart nice & pretty next to my nice new patriotic red, white & blue welding gloves.

My lack of using it is that I try to clean the metal surfaces as best I can to make them free of rust. Maybe I should spray the surfaces anyway.

The Anti-Spatter spray is for the gas nozzle and contact tip of your Mig Gun to stop the spatter from sticking to it and obstructing the gas flow.
