JV Thanksgiving Run 2010 edition

Hello all,

since we're getting excited about spending a week in JV again with good friends on great trails, I thought why not get started with a thread since it's only a 'couple weeks' away

Janneke and I really look forward to seeing all of you,

greetz Ron currently residing in Alpine, TX

Ron...I really hope to be able to see you again....I truly enjoyed our time on the Rubicon...even though you stole my sleeping cot...this year it is not in the cards....though I am hoping to show up in 2011...though I don't expect to run the real difficult trails....just such a long drive back home with a daily driver....I should be ready for next year...just have to get Miss Sue to take her vacation time at the apppropriate time..one of us has to work and I prefer it to be her....who knows..maybe I can get Allen to be my Trail Bitch this time..and yes I will abuse him

Lynne and I will be there again and we're looking forward to it. We are renting a small RV this time around and will probably get there Friday night. Only 6 weekends left to get ready...

Thumbs up

I had a great time last year, and I'm planning on coming again this year.

I still have a lot of work to do on my jeep though. But I'm working really hard to get it done in time. I'll know for sure within the next couple of weeks.

We were so hoping to make it this year. Meeting Blaine & wheeling JV are on my bucket list! However a new job & finances aren't in harmony with this Thanksgiving's plans...that said, next year is another matter! Hope to meet many of you in 2011 at Thanksgiving...

Respectfully,
~John & Donna

We will be there and it's looking like we will be there on Saturday sometime. Probably get all packed up and head out early Saturday Morning. That should put us there around 10 am or so.

Who is bringing what food?

We can do the cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy, plates, knives, forks etc.

If Sergey isn't coming we can do the Garlic mashed potatoes, but I'm not sure we can live up to standard that has already been set.
We'll see what else may be missing and can help out with whatever we are missing.

Cool

I plan to be there for the Thanksgiving dinner; and it looks like my girlfriend will be joining as well. She won't sleep in a tent, though; so I think we'll just drive up and down from Yucca Valley.

Garlic mashed potatoes.

with the garlic mashed potatoes being out of the way and taken care off by none less than the GMP chef himself, Janneke and I will take care of the usual also: after-dinner bites ... appel en kersen flappen (apple and cherry turn overs), Dutch stroopwafels (syrup waffles) and possibly something on the lighter side if we can find the right ingredients.

In case anything needs to be picked up last minute, we'll find it in town, since that's where we are staying ... no RV 'saga' this year

Still a lot of small stuff I need to do, but I took my jeep out wheeling today for a test and it did well. So I'll definitely be there.

I'll bring four or five bags of chips. If there is anything else I can bring that doesn't need to be kept cold, let me know.

I don't know how you pulled that off and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what it cost, but in my most self serving interests, I'm exceptionally happy to see both of you there.

If there is anything we can do to make her stay more pleasant, please let us know. She is more than welcome to use the camper any time we don't need it for sleep or showering.

howdy y'all

we'll be on our way to the US on Thursday and leaving from Texas for California on Friday morning sometime. Depending on when we arrive in Yucca Valley we might already stop by at camp on Saturday afternoon,

greetz Janneke and Ron

I kept mentioning to my wife how fun it'd be to go and she kept saying 'go if you want to' but we've been married long enough for me to know what that really meant. I trust everyone had a really great time, I'm sure you all did.

We had fun, thank you everybody. The weather was cold. I am extremely happy my girlfriend got to see what is it we do out in Johnson Valley. She was impressed.

The Thanksgiving dinner was excellent.

It was great seeing everyone out there on the run. I had a blast running FOH, Turkey Claw, Hells Gate and Sunbonnet!

Thanks everyone!
