Locked up DD - Driving impressions

Well, I had the Detroit installed in the rear of my XJ last week so I've had a week of driving on it. I don't know why I was worried about putting this in my DD. Other than the steering being a little heavier there really isn't a whole lot of difference. I've driven it in both dry and monsoon-like rains without any problems. I have made it a point to be off the gas while cornering whenever possible since that will disingage things but, other than that, not much has changed. I'm still not sure about what to do in the front, though. Daily driving in 2WD obviously won't be a problem but I am concerned with those skiing trips to the Upper Penninsula (Michigan). 50 MPH in heavy snow with F&R locked could get a little sketchy.

Living on the edge is one thing, falling off it is another.

The biggest issue you'll have is when travelling the snowy interstate at speed.....

You know how it is, there's an inch or two of snow covering the interstate, yet people here are used to it are still doing 55 or better.....

When you let off the gas at high speeds on snow and she unlocks.....hang on.

Two of the worst are 131 after Cadillac, Mi and 141 after Green Bay. Both can get REALLY interesting in a heavy snow.

The real reason Michiganders and Wisconcinites use Pre-runner bars on their bumpers.
