front UCA bushings
Hey all,
Doing a HP 30 conversion. The old UCA bushings on the axle have seen better days. None of the local auto parts seem to have a clue....... LCA bushings are all over the place, though.... Anyhoo.... Haven't checked with the stealership yet, but... The Cherokee bushings show a different part # in the books.... but did the P/N for the new TJ bushing supercede the old P/N? Thanks John

Get the Currie kit that replaces bushings with a cartridge joint. The stock rubber bushings weaken pretty quickly when wheeling. This is a mod I have yet to do.

which ones are right?
Ok, so here's the rundown on part #'s
Which one is the right one: UCA bushings..... Axle -- 1990 XJ HP D30 going into 2002 TJ. So... XJ bushing # 52038025 -- XJ 84-99 TJ bushing 52087852 -- XJ 00-01, TJ WJ 52088214 -- WJ 99-04 Is there a difference in the OD, Length, or ID of the XJ and TJ bushing? What about the WJ bushing? Different animal all together, or just heavier material? Thanks John

The XJ,MJ and TJ bushings are the same. I'm not sure on the WJ.

If you have a Carquest, they have Clevite bushing available for your CA's and they are better than OEM. The kit part numbers are below:
K3162 (carquest part number) UCA K3164 (carquest part number) LCA Ken

Anyway, I was trying to look up the Moog #'s for the TJ. K3166 shows up as the # for the TJ front UCA, but then you cross it back and it shows up as WJ parts.... Weird. These manufacturers need to get their parts references straightened out. Anyway, I measured the ID of the sleeve in the XJ bushings on the axle, and my TJ bushings on mine -- There were some minor differences in the rest of the dimms, but were pretty close. ~0.40" ID for my TJ bushings -- 4x checked. ~0.50" ID for the earlier XJ bushings -- 2x checked. Looks like the earlier XJ bushings would give a bunch of clunking and complaining from an oversize bolt hole with my TJ bolts. So I am going to try the TJ number and hope it gives me the right ID. Best regards John

Since its too late to edit...
For Blaine
I checked the dimms a couple times with calipers. No dimples inside my bushings. Moog's dimension chart lists the kits k3128 and k3162 as the same. 3128 has 2, 3162 has 4. Both have ID listed as 0.500" This is apparently what my XJ axle has in it. The TJ has a smaller hole -- around 10mm. I called the dealer about the TJ part-- they gave me # 5134992AA. This and the 52087852 # both crossreference to Napa NCP267-1465.... so that is what I am getting. We will see what shows up in the box. Best regards John

I read where the engineers at DC were struggling with either the WJ or WK and building the Up Country suspension package for it. They had to increase the durometer of the control arm bushings and lower it from the normal 1" the package offers to defeat a tendency to develop death wobble.

Hello John,
got mine through Napa and they fit just fine. Don't have the slip with the part#'s (traveling currently), but just go for the TJ bushings ...
