2/22 - Miller Jeep Trail

Sunday, Febuary 22nd I'd like to do a meet and greet / trail run.

So far I have the following rigs coming:

Mine (TJ, 35s, Locked F&R)
TJ w/ 32s open
ZJ w/ 33s Open
Tacoma Stock

I've never been so I am unsure of a meeting place, suggestions?

Thanks!

Justin

Best place to meet is the Flying J at Frasier park. I've been a few times. I might make this.

The flying J is a great place to meet. It's about 20 minutes from the bottom of the trial head.

BTW, which way are you going to run it? You may want to consider running it backwards, due to the stock tacoma.

I haven't been on Miller's in a while, and the trail changes depending on the past weather, but the last leg of the trail, can be a little hard for stockers.

Then again, the last time I went (1 1/2 years ago), it was like it was almost a paved road the whole way through.

You might want to check with someone who's been recently to see what the condition is like on the trail.

Anyway, with one locked jeep, so long as everyone has tow points, at the minimum, you can strap everyone through, going the normal way.

the trail's pretty tame at the moment. last time i was up there, when alex was out, we had a stock nissan (i think) pick-up join the group. He did just fine, bent his nerf bars up, but made it.

Tacoma>Montero, right?

That guy got through without any trouble. BTW, ^ used to be the hardest part of the whole trail. It's getting pretty tame now.

Miller shouldn't be too hard, the adopt-a-trail club just got both of these all the way up from the very bottom:

Have fun, I would love to go and talk photography but it is kind of a far drive now.

The last time I was there, that ford pick up was in perfect condition. Looks like someone decided to make a mess of things. It must have been stolen because it has been a couple months since I was there.

Question Is the trail open???

Make sure you call the Mt Pinos ranger station ahead of time. They close the trail after the first good snow of the season. As of last Friday it was open though.

Lets say 10 o'clock at the flying J. That's would put us on the trail at about 10:45 air down and disco'd, (except you antirock guys). Give us some time to play at the petersons park when we finish too.

Thanks!

The flying J is the biggest truck stop at the frazier park exit {there is only one exit} easy to find. I did the trail a cuuple of weeks ago and could have done it in 2wd. Very tame compared to what it used to be.

Question Gas at Flying J?

Flying J is the perfect meeting place, huge parking lot and all the ammenities of a truck stop. You might want to gas up at one of the other nearby stations. Some people have had fuel related problems after filling up at Flying J. Just something to think about. Have fun.

Unhappy TRAILS ARE CLOSED

I called the Mt Pinos ranger station yesterday. Due to the recent snow, the Lockwood & Miller trails are closed for the season.

I'll already be up there, been planning it for a few weeks now. Didnt post it as I didnt want to step on your Lockwood run...
Taking a few people from "On the Rocks".
Doing the canyon to Burro Schmidts and down ep100. Yj wont be done so I'm taking the wagon.

From what I hear, David has been told by the BLM to be off the property by the end of that week so if he hasnt already left it will be his last weekend there. Rumor also has it that the BLM is planning to remove just about everything except Toni and Burro's cabins. Even the trees, as they are not native species...

See you there.

kris.

Is this still on? If so, I've only been to Last Chance once. Would someone provide a GPS point to where you are meeting? All I remember is traveling up the 58 (?), taking a fork to the right, drive a distance and look for a turn off ... Get the picture?

I talked with David last week. He has to be out by the 1st of march. Says he is going back to driving a truck.
