Question Size of needle type grease fitting in driveshaft

I was lubing the driveshaft yesterday when I noticed one of the needle type fittings missing. Does anyone know off hand what size it is so I can get one on the way home? The shaft is a Tom Wood special, with 1310 u-joints.

Thanks-

It is "probably" a 1/4"-28 fitting. I actually had a tierod with an 8mm metric thread. FWIW, I couldn't find any of the needle fittings at my local auto parts store.

Good luck!

I couldn't find any needle zerk fittings either. I needed one for my new drag link so I ended up cutting the top of a standard zerk fitting flush with the hex-head and stuffing the threaded portion full of JB-Weld to plug it up. That plugged zerk serves as a plug for daily driving. Then when you need to grease it, remove the zerk-plug and insert a standard zerk fitting for the actual grease job, then you can re-insert the plug.

Tom Wood probably would send you one if you asked him too.

Napa had them. He knew exactly what I was talking about, and I ended up buying a few 1310 joints to use as spares.

I wish either of the two local NAPA stores I checked had had them... and no one there knew what I was talking about either.
