Some time this morning while we were outside. She died in her sleep on her usual spot on the bed. I thought she was just cat napping, but she was forever asleep.

Unhappy

I am very sorry about your cat. I had my pat parakeet die when I was still in school. I was devastated, I can imagine how hard it is for you to loose one of your four legged friends.

I am very sorry about death of your and Blaine's relatives.

I truly appreciate everyone's response and those who also read and did not find the words to reply with. I know I do the same thing. I read stuff, want to say something good, but cannot come up with the words.

Want to know the bizarre part of all of this? I am more bothered by my little furry four legged buddy leaving, than I am by the two legged variety.

I know she was just a cat, but she never asked for anything but a little food, a scratchy post, and lots of pets and tummy rubs. What more could you ask for?

No hidden agendas, no manipulation, never borrowed a damn thing and forgot to return it, and was always glad to let you know how she felt about you. All you had to do was look at her and she would start up with those very loud cricket purrs. I will miss her.

Blaine and Kat: I really don't know what to say. I do know how attached you can get to pets that are "family". Our dog is now a senior citizen and we will not know how to handle the situation when he is gone. The "Rainbow Bridge" poem comes to mind.
Damnit, can't see/type for tears welling up; and this is the internet!

Blaine and Kat,
My condolences to both of you. I know especially what it's like to loose a pet. We lost our older cat last year and every once in awhile, you think you see the fuzzy thing. Hang in there.
Jason

Its crazy how we humans get attached to our pets. I used to breed dogs (Irish Setters) and one of the reasons I no longer have any is that I ended up having to put my champion male (Clarence was 14 and pretty sick) and then one of his off spring that I had managed to keep along the way (Paddy
was 10 and had never been alone) down within a span of 6 weeks of each other. It was pretty traumatic - I still do not believe I have ever really gotten over that. My heartfelt condolances to you both on the loss of your pet.

I'm sorry to hear about all the bad news. My condolences go out to both of you, and the rest of the family & friends of the ones who passed away.

I hope you have plenty of pics & memorabilia to look back upon to help cherish their fond memories.

As far as your pet cat is concerned, maybe another will come your way. Not to replace it, but to enjoy anothers companionship & fun loving behaviors.

Kat and Blaine,

I am sorry to hear of your losses. We all work through these times in what ever way works for us. I realize there is little I can do from here, but if you want to call and talk....I can do that pretty well.

I lost a then 4 year old dog, some 20+ years ago, to cancer. It was very hard to get over. If there is a place where all animals go, once they leave here, I am betting that the two of them have gotten together and are at this minute, trading stories about us. Wait till mine spills the beans about the defrosting t-bone stake she stole from the kitchen sink.
