Anyone else have a phone book as big as mine?

Got our new phone book today. They actually combined 2 communities, Stoutland (where I live) and Eldridge (about 15 miles away).

The book has 15 1/2 PAGES of phone numbers.

BUT.....It is not a full size phone book (8.5 x 11") it's a 6x9"

We actually gained 2 pages over last years edition.........Growing community??? No, they just used a bigger font.

I don't know what the percentage is, but my last house and property (5,800 S.F. house, 40x60 shop and 80 acres) was worth about $750,000 and my taxes (property, school, etc.) were about $2400/year.

My spread here in San Diego county, which is not worth that much, generates around $7300 in county taxes per year.

Don't you love it, when you fix a leaky roof, they consider it an improvement, and slap an extra $200 in taxes on ya?

Sergey,
Heck, I can build a new BUILDING, and they won't even know about it for at least a couple of years.

I had to re-arrange my county road a few months ago (put a culvert pipe under it), I just called my buddy w/ a backhoe, and away we went, took about half a day. We just sent the cars (maybe 4-5) back and they had to detour a few miles.

That probably wouldn't go over very well at your place, huh?

Yeh, a thought of moving to Nevada or somewhere crosses my mind every time I get a bill from the tax collector.

Missura? Are you guys a state, or still a territory?.. Just kidding.

Do you guys in San Diego County have larger taxes or what? In L.A. County, the tax rate is a 1% general levy plus any other local levies. Mine works out to about 1-1/8% of the price I paid for the home.
