leak at output shaft yoke

This concerns a 231 with JB conversions short shaft kit.

I found a few drops of fluid under my rear output yoke. The housing is dry, the yoke is damp. I assume this means the leak originates from the inside of the yoke where it slips over the shaft. From what I remember there is a star type rubber gasket in there. I'm guessing it needs to be replaced.

Does it sound like I'm on the right track here?

If so, Is the gasket available at the local auto parts store?

Does anyone have a part number?

any other thoughts are welcome.

Brian.

Make sure it's not the speedo housing seal against the t-case. I thought I had a leak at the output shaft housing after installing my SYE kit too but it turned out to be a cut o-ring on the speedo housing. Wind was blowing the leaking ATF up from the speedo housing to around the output shaft. It sure had me fooled for a few days.

But unlike some of the investments many of us have made, especially into our Jeeps, I'm 100% certain hers was well worth every nickle.

Hey hey, as Garry once said, show some respect.... at least for those of us who are chronologically challenged.
