Hey William where does one get those Caterpillar batteries?
I feel I will need a good battery soon, and do not really want an Optima. But I want one I can mount on its side ( so I can double stack them ) Sean M Higgins higs@higsrigs.com

Why do you want to double stack? Isn't 1700 cca in a single good enough for you?
It is not who you know, It is who knows you Jeeps do not make jeepers, jeepers make Jeeps.

Hawethorne Catapillar has told me they can get me one for my TJ. I've not hit them up on it, because, #1, my bro says he'll get me one for my birthday, and #2, I want to wait untill all my mod money is gone so I can say "Honey.."
But I'll find out the part number if you like! R/ William

It's more for an accessories, like the winch and on board air, lights etc. Just like they do on most tractor trailers, boats etc. 2 batteries with a 3 position marine type switch. I would hate to have to winch William out of somewhere and then have fried my battery because it was the middle of the night and I also had my lights on. I wouldn't be able to use my air tools to fix what he broke. Really Angel Eyes, I mean MrBlaine, it's for Williams sake and his family not for me.
quote:
Originally posted by Ace!: Didn't read the black label/batteries post eh?
Yeah I did Ace, but it still didn't answer my primary question which was: "Hey William where do you get one of those Caterpillar batteries" Not: "Hey William do you happen to have all the specs on all the batteries ever made?" You see I know that William has an in somehow with Caterpillar. Always watch those sailors they are a sneaky lot. Sean M Higgins higs@higsrigs.com

Sean- if a 1700 Odyssey will not handle your reserve needs, then you need to greatly increase the output of your alternator.
I never killed my stock battery during winching. I doubt that I will do the same to something with 3 times the capacity of stock. It is not who you know, It is who knows you Jeeps do not make jeepers, jeepers make Jeeps.

Sean, I was referring to your need for a battery that will allow you to set it on it's side, not the reference to William. Good luck on whatever battery you choose

I use my 2nd Battery when I camp to run the lights, stereo, power inverter, etc.
Then when I want to start the rig in 3 days, I still have my starting battery. 2000 TJ 4.0L, A/T, all factory options. Jeep Rater Score 360 http://www.hellbender.rockcrawler.com/ NRA Lifetime Member

Ace,
I've got the Tera belly up. You need the RE track bar relocator that's bent forward, upper adjustable control arms, bar pin eliminators, BL and MM lift. I ended up using a 1" Curie MM lift plus the spacer Tera sends. I'm happy. Wish I had known about the Currie at the time. I think Currie has a guy, maybe named Craig, that doesn't know squat and answers questions (wrong) all the time. Ron

Bar pin eliminators...interesting, I hadn't heard that before. I guess because it moves the shock mounting location a bit?

Áron O'Proinntigh is ainm dom
What it does is rotate the axle in order to point the pinion at the driveshaft. This moves the shock mounts under the axle further. That makes sense. Don't you have to do that too with a CV driveshaft? I wonder if my shocks will get beaten up with no bar pin eliminators with SYE/CV. Blaine, you're not using BPEs are you, and you're running a belly-up...it works without BPE too?

Probably not. I raised my motor and did the 1" body lift and the shock was very close with a 3" lift. With a taller lift I could probably ground a bit off the spring perch. Some guys put there shocks can up and forget the bar pin eliminators. Also the JKS are much better than the Teras. I think the Curries are good too but not sure.
