I got mine weighed at United Rentals in Van Nuys. The guy getting weighed right before me was Wheaton Movers and he was taking a residential load to FL and had to get a certified weight like Blaine mentioned.

When I was a kid, it was all the rage to put a rainbow sticker in the car window here in CA, but for different reasons. It was some sort of surfer thing.

Anyway, I like my Jeep, but commuter car isn't its strong suit. Like Robert, I get 34 mpg like clockwork compared to 15 in my Jeep. My Honda is compressed natural gas which costs $0.75 less per gallon and allows me to drive solo in the carpool lane. So, with my 80 mile roundtrip, I'm spending an additional 30 minutes driving due to traffic and spending three times the amount in fuel. Oh yeah, our weather is quite pleasant at the moment, but the freeway is still no fun in the morning with no top on the Jeep. Though the view into the neighboring cars is a bit better.

You get 15 MPG??? I don't think I get that coasting down a hill!

My Jeep is my DD. It's an acquired taste. I agree on the nice views while pulling alongside those little Hondas. In the hot summer here; you'd be amazed at the view!

I get right about 15 mpg driving on the freeway and keeping the speed reasonable. I drive it pretty easy and don't get into the throttle too much to achieve that. I also have 35's with 4.10's. New, stock, it got almost the advertised 19 mpg. Knocking on wood, I got an efficient one and it burns very clean according to the smog check.

the landfill place up in palos verdes near my house will usually do it for free. One time I took the jeep on trailer behind my truck and they weighed it for free.

The local landfills will do it for you. I just showed up and asked. They looked at me funny, but no hassles. Also, the freeway weigh stations work great, when they aren't busy.
