F8.8 & SOA (lots of pics)

Here's some of the pics I recently took (today), of my F8.8 & SOA I've been working on.

She rides fairly nice, but there's a few more items I still need to dial in. Rear boomerang shackles for one.

In a nut shell, RE 1.5" SOA springs, '99 Explorer axle w/4.56 & ARB, RS9000's, & MORE steering correction components.

Joe, do yourself a favor and cut off those excess U-bolts before they damage something. Under flex or droop, does that tie-rod contact the spring?

Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, I still need to work out a few items like the u-bolt length. I stuffed the wheels last weekend & took a look at things. Seems to be room when static, but I know how that differs when driving.

The tie rod doesn't touch the spring as it appears in the pic that it might have. It has a few scratches from shipping etc.

Looks like you are ready to go have some fun Joe.

We still have a few spots on the newbie run to JV left. You would not be the first SOA YJ on Swampers I've been over those trails with.

It is impossible to ascertain the value of something until you have paid for it a few times.

Hey I remember that YJ... I meet you at LCIIR last year when they were closing.

Looks good Joe, but I think you should have chromed the U-bolts

Thanks guys!

Blaine, I haven't poked my head in the "Get Out & Wheel" forum lately. Maybe that run is something I should look into.

Robert, She was in need of a facelift. LOL After a few more dings, I think the chrome stuff will wear off. No exact plans yet, just mowing over some ideas. Oh, and the Vette, it's a '99 convertible. It belongs to my renter Robert Wells. You, William, Blaine, Kat, Scott & others met him on the Big Bear run we went on. He's got a Cherokee too, so he does like Jeeps!

Bruce, Yep that's me. That was a fun run.

Joe; some thoughts on the anti-wrap device. I have seen some of your discussions on other boards and think you have gotten some sage advice. My anti-wrap bar is slightly different in that it uses a driveshaft slip joint so it can move front to back slightly. It is triangulated at the rear axle from top to bottom and attaches via a large heim joint to a cross bar across the frame (behind the transfer case). Works well and I don't need bumpstops on the rear leafs. It does hinder free droop in the rear but I feel that this is insignificant as there is no weight to speak of on the drooping wheel and therefore no traction. I do not get axle wrap with stock YJ springs that are worn out! This with an injected 4.lL V-6 and 5:38's.

Tumbleweed,

I remember hearing something about this & it seems like a trick set-up. I'm open for suggestions & ideas and appreciate the info. Could you possibly post pics or a link where they might be? I need to refresh my old memory.

Joe, I will be glad to take some pix and email them to you. Give me a day or two. I don't know of anywhere they are posted, as far as I know- mine is somewhat unique.

Don,

Thanks for shareing the pics. I just viewed them & that bad boy looks very beefy indeed!

I have a few ideas brewing & your set-up has now got me back to the drawing board.

I've seen a few different "kits" that are available, & some are flawed due to design & function. Some have troubles with bending & weak links, I want to steer shy from those type items.

Again, Thanks!
