HP30 = D30? (shafts)

this section says technical stuff, and mechanically inept...so...

my '94 xj has been deemed totalled by the insurance company. yeah, last week sort of sucked. anyways, it has the HP30 in it - my tj has the d30 in it. are the axle shafts interchangeable? i'm just looking to get what i can out of it before it's gone. i've already approached the insurance company about buying it back - and i think i have a buyer already to take the 4.0HO. but i was hoping at least to snag stuff that'll work for my jeep. if only i had an old d30 laying around to put in there....i could keep the HP30 either to sell or build up for my fiance's tj

so, anyone know what would be prevent me from using the shafts in my tj's d30?
thanks,
chris

Does the 94XJ's HPD30 have the vacuum disco?

If it does - it's not what you want for a direct swap.

why not simply swap the axles between the 2 jeeps? forget about the shafts - its the high pinion differential that you want in the TJ.

cause i already geared my tj's d30 to 4.88 and wedged an ARB in there to boot! if my tj wasn't regeared then i'd jump on it...but i don't think it's worth canning my current d30 just to get the HP30 in there. i'm just looking for trail spare axle shafts before i sell off the xj for parts. if i had an old d30 laying around i'd swap them out and sell the HP30 at my leisure...but i'm fresh out

if all you want is the tj dana 30 axle shafts.. they are a dime a dozen. just pick up a set, and save the aggravation.

mike green has the best price i've seen lately - just over $100 per side. and there is nary a tj to be found in the yards around here....so if weighing between the dime and free then i'll save the 10 cents and snag them from the xj. oh, and i didn't even get them today...i was up to pulling the nut when i found my 36mm socket had mysteriously disappeared

A simple yes or no will skirt all sorts of BS for you. This is key!

No need to fart around any further if this was answered.

oops - sorry joe...didn't field that one. official answer - nope, standard HP30 (non-vacuum disconnecting).
