Silver City, Idaho; a live "ghost town"
http://tumblwd.smugmug.com/gallery/8...44064160_cQaCG
Silver City is a live "ghost town". All buildings are privately owned now, and are mostly summer retreats. Silver City was a mining town that started in the 1860's and ran hard for about 20 years. The town has never been completely wiped out by a fire unlike most old mining towns. It sets at 6300ft, and is not accessable in the winter. No power or running water there now, and no phones. Only one person lives there in the winter, the "watchman". He is a deputized individual the property owners hire to keep an eye on the properties. Even snowmobiles can't get in there on a regular basis. |
