dumb tie rod question
after working on my XJ after a weekend of wheeling, i noticed that my tie rod got smashed by a rock and is bend about a 1/2inch or so.
what all is affected by the tie rod, and what would happen if i didn't fix it right away? i should probably know this, but the only big problem i can think of right now is bad tire wear. since i have to replace it, and new they go around $70, i was going to leave it for now and save up for this cool replacement. http://www.toysbytroy.com/Product_Fi...Alumi-Flex.htm any opinions? Thanks, Alex

Yeah, bad tire wear.
You could probably try to adjust it for the bend. The only real risks that I could see you taking by driving around with it bent are the following: loss of control when driving due to out of whack alignment or the tie rod is more damaged than you think and it completely breaks which would really suck if you were driving fast. |
